The role involves owning the physical layer of a private, global dark-fiber network from end to end. Responsibilities include planning terrestrial fiber routes, sourcing and qualifying dark fiber, and managing vendor delivery from purchase order to final acceptance. The individual will define inventory systems, establish acceptance standards, and manage the vendor bench. Additionally, the role requires collaborating with optical transport, backbone routing, and capacity planning teams to ensure network performance. The position serves as the primary point of accountability for physical delivery across multiple concurrent builds.

Candidates must have experience in OSP or fiber planning and network delivery at a carrier, hyperscaler, or large enterprise backbone. Proficiency in GIS or KMZ tooling and a solid understanding of optical transport, including DWDM and span loss, are required. Applicants must be able to read OTDR traces and manage vendor relationships regarding splice quality and contracts. A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is necessary. Preferred candidates possess at least eight years of relevant experience and have previously built a fiber program from the ground up.
