The individual in this role leads cross-functional efforts to perform safety analyses and identify potential hazards and their causes. They assess safety risks both qualitatively and quantitatively to support the definition of safety requirements and inform design decisions. The position involves participating in hardware, software, and operations design reviews to ensure safety mitigations are addressed and effective. Additionally, the role provides guidance on the adoption of safety standards and ensures compliance with relevant regulations. The professional also defines and improves system safety processes while promoting a safety culture within the organization.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. A minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience is required, including at least 5 years specifically in System Safety engineering. Applicants must demonstrate strong technical project management skills and proficiency in performing inductive and deductive safety analyses. Furthermore, the role requires expertise in Systems Engineering principles, including the definition of SMART safety requirements and the implementation of verification and validation methods. A Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical field is preferred.
